Wolfe Tones in concert

ALBANY - On Friday, June 29, the Irish folk legends, The Wolfe Tones, will appear in concert at the Capital District Irish American Center.

Performing for nearly 40 years, these legendary Dublin balladeers continue to be one of Irelands biggest box office attractions, selling out at prestigous venues across Ireland, the UK, mailand Europe, and the U.S.

Tikets are $30 and tables of ten are available. Pub and kitchen opens at 5p.

Beauty and the Beast to come to Proctors

Beauty and the Beast to come to Proctors

The Mainstage at Proctors will welcome “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” beginning May 15 through May 20.

The classic love story will come to life onstage with songs like “Be Our Guest,” “Change In Me,” and “Gaston.” The show is based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature film and the show has been seen by 35 million people around the world.

Free Comic Book Day to take place May 5

Free Comic Book Day will take place at local participating comic book stores in the Capital Region May 5.

Comic book enthusiasts will be able to receive a free comic book and will be able to participate in a series of events and exhibits. Free Comic Book Day is the first Saturday in May each year when participating comic book shops across the United States give away comic books to anyone who comes into their stores.

'Discovering Lake Desolation' to come to Brookside May 4

The home of the Saratoga County Historical Society, Brookside, has announced the opening of the “Discovering Lake Desolation” exhibit by local artists Nancy McGrath. The event will take place on Friday, May 4.

McGrath is a plein aire artist and moved to Rock City Falls four years ago. According to a statement, as she started painting McGrath also began to see the strong industrial history of the community. The new exhibit will concentrate on the history of Lake Desolation and Kayderosseras Mountain.

The opening will happen from 5 to 8 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be available and the exhibition will remain on display during normal hours until Friday, July 27.

Co-Founder of Tribeca Film Fest to speak at UAlbany

ALBANY - On Thursday, May 3, Craig M. Hatkoff will be speaking at a town hall meeting about expanded film production opportunities in the Capital Region.

Hatkoff, an Albany native, -will be focusing on the the impact of film production as a sustainable economic driver on the Capital Region economy.

ALBANY - On Saturday, June 16, the Celtic Punk band Flogging Molly will perform at the Palace Theatre.

Tickets are $24.50 and $29.50 and will go on sale May 4.

Shen. Adult Community Center to host Greg Nazarian’s Dance Band

The Shenendehowa Adult Community Center will host Greg Nazarian’s Dance Band on Saturday, May 12.

Nazarian holds a dance at the community center on the second Saturday of every month. The cost will be $8 per person and $5 for members of the center.

Proof of membership is required to receive the discount and people are invited to come enjoy an evening of dancing and entertainment.
