New Postal facility operates in Halfmoon farm stand | Business

HALFMOON - The financially hard-pressed Postal Service has opened a new facility in Halfmoon, but it's not expected to take away from its bottom line.

A contract postal unit is now operating within the farm stand at Devoe's Rainbow Orchards.

In between buying apples, checking out tomatoes or corn, customers can purchase the full range of Postal Services at a counter where the cider tank used to be.

Officials tell us there are about 3,800 contract postal units nationwide like the one now operating at Devoe's.

Neither side pays rent for the Halfmoon unit. Devoe's will get a percentage of the postal revenue it generates.
