CLIFTON PARK - State police are warning residents of Clifton Park about a scam targeting homeowners.
It involves a man claiming to be from the Water Management Department. Police say an elderly woman told them that a man showed up at her back door Tuesday morning.
He said he needed to flush her water as it might be contaminated. She says he appeared legit, wearing a picture ID around his neck, carrying a radio, even running each faucet and flushing toilets.
After he left, she later went out and when she came back, discovered she had been robbed.
Troopers are searching for an older model, navy blue pick up truck with the word, “water” written in yellow on the doors.
If you've seen this truck, or had a similar situation, call state police.
